Recently, I was introduced to the book “Be Water, My Friend”, written by Bruce Lee’s daughter, Shannon Lee.

This book offers a different perspective on how to attain balance and flow in life. It encourages us to be flexible and fluid, like water.

Like water, it always seeks the lowest point where people tend to avoid and seeks the best of it.

Like water, it has the power to destruct, errode, or heal, depending on the situation.

Like water, it evaporates when you boil it and condenses into water again when you cool it.

Like water, it adapts to any form with strength and flexibility, seeping through cracks effortlessly.

Like water, it changes its course along with the wind’s direction, without resistance.

Life is filled with ebbs and flows. We learn to enjoy the ride when the tides come, and embrace the low with a break when the tide wanes.

Here’s a beautifully worded paragraph by Bruce Lee:

“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”

May you find peace and balance in your life by being like water, my friends.
