What it Really Mean to Do Less and Feel More?
Today, we live in a world where doing more seems like the most rightful thing to do, while doing less makes you look unproductive.
When we feel lost, we think that we are not doing enough and dive headfirst into pursuing the next shiny goal. One after another, trying to figure out our path. Imagine trying to find the right path when your vision is clouded by fog, and you are heading aimlessly only to find out that you are still at the spot.
Too often, it’s so easy to get lost in the frenzy, saying YES to anything and everything, only to realize at the end of the day, feeling wornout and wondering if it truly matters to you?
Busyness acts as a barrier to self reflection, while time pressure pushes clarity further away.
I myself am guilty of being caught in a frenzy mode of doing sometimes, trying to tick off tasks and missing out on living in the present.
What matters is savouring and appreciating all the emotions and feelings that you experience.
Perhaps it is as simple as slowing down to enjoy the taste of authentic tea without additional sugar. Maybe it is using your phone less and being more present with the people around you. Or perhaps it is taking a pause on your next to-do thing and asking how you are actually feeling now.
I’ve learned that life’s simple pleasure is about savouring the very moment, even if it means doing nothing and just simply be present. This is how ‘Do Less, Feel More’ resonates.
Be more by doing less and feeling more
The beauty of doing less is to create more space in our lives where we can pause and delve deeper into our own emotional territory, discovering and tapping into our emotions while being deeply involved in every activity.
Take a few minutes to catch up with yourself, process the emotions you are going through, and honour those feelings.
Let your emotions be the guiding light
Emotions are like ebbs and flows in life. Instead of reacting during the peaks and troughs of emotions, allow time and space for the emotions to calm so that you can see things with clarity.
The deeper you tap into your emotions, slowly and eventually, you will realize that you are not your emotions; you are just the person feeling the emotions.
Take it slow today
Perhaps today is worth slowing down your pace and asking yourself the following questions —
- How do I feel about my life right now?
- What is deeply meaningful and true to me?
May you find the space to nourish your soul and befriend your emotions. ♥️
